The 9th season of Out in the Tropics 2018 presented by FUNDarte will run May 24th – June 24th, 2018 in Miami-Dade County with performances in Miami and Miami Beach.
Other educational activities with local organizations TBD.

Thursday, May 24 to June 24.   Rocio Garcia, a prolific lesbian Cuban painter, opens her new art-show which runs for one-month. Centro Cultural Español Miami, 1490 Biscayne Blvd, Miami.

Thursday,  June 21 & Fri. June 22 at 8:00 PM. BR Trans, by Brazilian theater company, As Travestidas. An extraordinary solo performance by actor, writer, Silvero Pereira, that brings to the stage real stories about transsexuals throughout Brazil’s northwestern and southern regions. The Gleason Room at the Fillmore, Miami Beach.


Sat. June 23 at 4:00 PM. Richard Blanco, an esteemed Cuban-American poet who served as the fifth presidential inaugural poet for President Obama in 2012, addresses his Cuban heritage, his immigrant experience in Miami, and gay Latino identity in his spoken-word performance. Miami Beach Botanical Garden, Miami Beach.


Sat. June 23 at 8:00 PM. Eliseo Parra is one Spain’s leading performers and researchers of folk music outside and beyond the Flamenco tradition. He will be performing with Spanish musicians: José Luis Ordoñez Gil, Aleix Tobías Sabater, Daniel Espasa Canadell, Xavier Lozano Palay, Guillem Aguilar Nolis, Pablo Martin and Jones Johston.

This project has also been made possible by the Program of the state agency Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) for Season of Spanish Musical Heritage as part of the Internationalization of Spanish Culture (PICE), in the Mobility category, which facilitates the presence and collaboration of Spanish artists.


Enjoy a month of performances by provocative local, national, and international artists who boldly address issues of gender politics and sexuality. Out in the Tropics also presents an array of free educational activities that provide the local community with personal and direct access to our visiting artists, including community workshops, lectures, and other face-to-face opportunities that allow for meaningful personal interaction.
