FUNDarte and Miami-Dade County Auditorium with Aventura Arts and Cultural Center  present Rayuela by Marco Flores on May 2nd and May 3rd, 2025 at 8:00 p.m. at Aventura Arts and Cultural Center as part of Out In The Tropics series.

About the show

Rayuela, meaning ‘hopscotch’ in Spanish is the newest creation of versatile artist, Marco Flores. Flores celebrates the first 20 years of his career in this piece that is a metaphor for his life where he is accompanied by renowned musicians, singer Alfredo Tejada and guitarist José Tomás Jiménez.

About the artist

Marco Flores (National Flamenco Award winner) was born in 1981 in Arcos de la Frontera, Cádiz. At age 18 he joined Sara Baras and Rafaela Carrasco’s dance companies. He was also a guest artist in Mercedes Ruiz and Miguel Angel Berna’s dance companies.

Nowadays Marco Flores tours around Spain and abroad with his productions. He also choreographs for many artists and companies. He recently choreographed for Daniel Doña’s dance company, Fortea Conservatory in Madrid and also for Ballet Nacional de España in “Alento y Zaguán”.

Marco has been awarded with the following prizes:

· Carmen Amaya Award – Concurso Nacional de Arte Flamenco de Córdoba.
· Antonio Gades Award – Concurso Nacional de Arte Flamenco de Córdoba.
· Mario Maya Award – Concurso Nacional de Arte Flamenco de Córdoba.
· Premio Especial del Baile – Concurso Nacional de Arte Flamenco de Córdoba.
· Best Dancer Award – Deflamenco Magazine.
· Best Dancer Award – de Flamenco Hoy, Crítica Especializada
· Best Show Award “DeFlamencas” – Crítica del Festival de Jerez.
· Gold Medal – Festival Flamenco de la Virgen de las Nieves (Arcos de la Fra.).
· El Ojo Crítico Danza Award – Radio Nacional de España.

Out In The Tropics this year redefined as Out (Loud) in the Tropics is a yearly international performing arts series featuring daring and innovative artists that address issues of Gender Politics, Sexuality, and freedom of expression.

This performance is part of Miami-Dade County Auditorium’s Away From Home Series, a program that consists of off-site performances at alternative venues with our community partners, ensuring that the magic of the performing arts continues to captivate audiences while MDCA is temporarily closed for renovations.
