{"id":19452,"date":"2020-06-12T08:29:12","date_gmt":"2020-06-12T08:29:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fundarte.us\/fundarte-event\/global-cuba-fest-2012\/"},"modified":"2020-07-14T15:11:23","modified_gmt":"2020-07-14T15:11:23","slug":"global-cuba-fest-2012","status":"publish","type":"fundarte-event","link":"https:\/\/fundarte.us\/es\/fundarte-event\/global-cuba-fest-2012\/","title":{"rendered":"Global Cuba Fest 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><b>FUNDarte and the Miami Light Project<\/b> will present a day of celebration to commemorate <b>\u00abGlobal Cuba Fest,\u00bb<\/b> Saturday April 1st, at the North Beach opened-air BandShell on Collins Avenue and 73rd Street in Miami Beach.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The 5th Season of the \u00abGlobal Cuba Fest\u00bbwill be a festival of theater and music featuring Rita Rosa Ruesga&#8217;s children\u00b4s musical play <i>\u201cOnce Upon a Time in the Caribbean\u00bb <\/i>and direct from Cuba, <i>\u00abInteractivo\u00bb<\/i> the most provocative timba-funk band performing for the first time in the U.S.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>At 3:00 p.m., parents and children will enjoy \u201c<i>Once Upon a Time in the Caribbean\u201d <\/i>by Latin Grammy-nominated Rita Rosa. Photograph by GlassWorks Multimedia<\/h6>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>Interactivo in concert, April 1st at 7PM, the U.S. premiere of \u00abInteractivo\u00bb will heat up the BandShell with <strong>Roberto Carcass\u00e9s<\/strong>, <strong>William\u00a0 Vivanco<\/strong>, <strong>Melvis Santa<\/strong>, <strong>Francis del R\u00edo<\/strong> and <strong>Telmary<\/strong>.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u00abInteractivo\u00bb was founded in 2001 under the direction of renowned Cuban pianist Roberto Carcass\u00e9s,\u00a0 and just within a few years, it turned out to be the most interesting musical expression of contemporary Cuban fusion, mixing traditional Cuban rhythms like Danz\u00f3n, Bolero and Son, infused with generous helpings of Jazz, Rock and Pop.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Carcass\u00e9s has been invited to perform at many international jazz festivals, including the Barcelona Jazz Festival (1997), the Havana Festival (1995, 1996, 1997) and the Utah Jazz Festival (1998).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>He has collaborated with many musicians such as Chucho Vald\u00e9s, Changuito, Wynton Marsalis, George Benson, and Harper Simon.<\/div>\n<div>Telmary D\u00edaz is a Cuban rapper, musician, and spoken-word artist. Photograph by GlassWorks Multimedia<\/h6>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>William Vivanco, a self-taught Cuban musician, is a vocalist and guitarrist who recorded his first album, \u201cLo tengo to pensao\u201d with Bis Music Labe. He has performed with Eliades Ochoa, Los Sabande\u00f1os, Liuba Maria Hevia, Gerardo Alfonso, Postrova and Aceituna sin Hueso.<\/div>\n<div>Francis del R\u00edo started in 1991 as a member of \u201cSororidad Latina Orchestra.\u00bb In 1992, he moved to La Havana and started to perform as singer in the \u201cTimba Suicida\u201d show, under the direction of Santiago Alfonso. Since our inception, we have reached a diverse cross-section of communities throughout Miami-Dade County with an extensive outreach effort that includes partnerships with other arts organizations, universities and social service agencies.
