FUNDarte presents FLAMENCOS, a special series of flamenco events for its 19-20 season, featuring RAIZ DE 4 by Rafael Peral and Marisa Adame, Casa Patas Flamenco Foundation & Conservatory, and “Flamenco Rave III featuring Kiki Morente, and Antonio Lizana, among other artists”.

On November 9th & 10th, FUNDarte presents RAIZ DE 4 by Rafael Peral and Marisa Adame, Casa Patas Flamenco Foundation & Conservatory (Spain) at Mid-Stage Miami Dade County Auditorium (2901 W Flagler St., Miami, FL 33135).

Synopsis:

RAIZ DE 4

The purest styles of flamenco — romances (ballads), martinetes, fandangos and soleares — are brought into the forefront in a performance made up of a cast of distinguished artists. Song (cante), dance (baile), guitar (guitarra) and percussion (percusión) come together on stage in a most natural fashion, while they convey a genuine love for this art form and take the audience on a simple and unswerving journey of feelings, sensations and emotions.

About the Artists:

Rafael Peral (Dancer and Choreographer). He received his degree in Spanish Dance from the Conservatorio Profesional de Danza Instituto del Teatro de Barcelona. After graduating, he studied with many masters including, El Toleo, La Tani, La Chana, Manolo Marín, and Antonio Canales. He began his professional career with the eminent José de la Vega, and worked with him until 1996, when he joined the Company of Antonio Canales, where he interpreted the role of “toro” in the production of Torero. At the same time, he appeared in the productions Gitano and Bengues under the direction of Lluis Pascual, and later performed in the flamenco dance companies of María Pagés, in La Tirana, Guito and Manolete in Puro Jondo, Guito in Mis recuerdos de Madrid y Sevilla, Adrián Galia in Paso a paso, Eva La Yerbabuena in Eva y 5 mujeres, Sara Baras in Juana la Loca and Sueños, Juan Andrés Maya in La Pasión, and with El Flamenco Vive in 4 Estaciones.
He was the guest artist in the production of Serranito, directed by Víctor Monge, and also danced in a variety of tablaos (flamenco venues) including El Flamenco in Tokyo, and Casa Patas, Corral de la Pacheca, Café de Chinitas, Corral de la Morería, Las Tablas, Torres Bermejas, and Las Carboneras, in Madrid. He joined forces with Marisa Adame to créate Jonda Emoción, presented at the “Auditorium / Theater of Nerja, Ciclo Distrito Artes”, and at the Jornadas de Cante Flamenco de Candeleda. The pair also created Raíz a 4, under the auspices of the Casa Patas Foundation, which premiered at the National Theater of Algiers and went on to the cities of Oran and Constantine and was also presented at the Felix Grande Professorial Flamencology Chair in Madrid.

María Adame (Dancer and Choreographer). She earned a degree in Spanish Dance from the Conservatorio Profesional de Danza Instituto del Teatro de Barcelona. After graduating, she continued to study with masters in the art of dance, including: La Chana, Ciro, La Toná, Manolete, La China, La Yerbabuena, Javier de la Torre, Adrián Galia, and Antonio Canales. Ms. Adame performed at numerous flamenco venues (tablaos) such as: Casa Patas, Café de Chinitas, Las Tablas, Torres Bermejas and El Flamenco in Tokyo. She also formed part of a variety dance companies including: “Color Danza Española” in which she won the First Prize at the Choreography Competition of Madrid (Certamen de Coreografía de Madrid), the Luis Dávila (Luisillo) Dance-Theater Company in their production of Carmen, and was a soloist in Romeo and Juliet. Additionally, she danced in the Company of José Greco in Los Tarantos, and also with the Company of Sara Baras in the productions of Juana la Loca and Sueños, and performed in the “Flamenco Dance Company” of El Güito in Mis recuerdos and in De Madrid a Sevilla, as well as in the Company
El Flamenco Vive in the production of 4 Estaciones.
Together with Rafael Peral, Ms. Adame created Jonda Emoción, performed at the Auditorium / Theater of Nerja as part of its “Ciclo Distrito de Artes” and at the “Jornadas de Cante Flamenco de Candeleda”. The pair also created RAIZ DE 4 , under the auspices of the Casa Patas Foundation, which premiered at the National Theater of Algiers, and went on to the cities of Oran and Constantine, and was also presented at the Felix Grande Professorial Flamencology Chair in Madrid.

The Casa Patas Flamenco Foundation and  Conservatory was born in the year 2000 with the goal of becoming a national clearinghouse for all activities related to the teaching, research and promotion of flamenco song, music and dance. Hence it is the mission of Casa Patas to actively promote this Art Form that was recognized by UNESCO in 2010 as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. To that end, every week, the Casa Patas tablao (flamenco stage) presents a broad range of artists who represent different dance, song and musical styles. In total, there are 300 performances annually. The artists who appear at Casa Patas can also be seen at theaters, festivals and cultural centers throughout the globe.
